When it’s time to integrate high-end functionalities to your WordPress website, there is no one stopping you to take your website to the next level.

What is “Too Many Redirects” Error and Reason of it?

This issue comes to notice by the WordPress users when they see a message on the screen that  the expected URL can’t be opened because it is redirecting to too many points!

In the Google Chrome browser, the error will be clear in the way you can see below:

“The web page at example.com has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem…”

Did you notice that it is distinctly mentioned on the top that:

“This web page has a redirect loop.”
And, the main cause that we will be discussing here is a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Misfigured redirection is mostly the primary cause of this error. This generally arises because WordPress is highly SEO-friendly CMS which uses the URL structure which is also SEO-friendly.

Plugins may also be the cause of “too  many redirects”:

Not to forget that we are in the habit of using too many plugins which can cause these type of errors in the WordPress website. This redirection issue may also be caused by one of the plugins you have installed on your website or a pair of plugins together.

Security SSL Certificate may also be the Reason!

Your SSL of the WordPress website or the cache plugins can be one of the reasons which may be causing problems.

Let’s quickly look at the solutions of fixing this error:

Methods to Fix the “Too Many Redirects” Error:

Most of the times it’s because of the incorrect information in the two fields of URL Settings. These fields are: WordPress Address URL and Site Address URL settings.

First, you should check these two settings.

This is how it goes…If you have chosen to use the domain name during website hosting to be without ‘www’ and entering the domain with ‘www’ in the URL Settings of the website will cause the too many redirects error.

On the other hand, if you have chosen to use the domain with ‘www’ when your website host entered the domain name, but if it’s the opposite way in the URL Settings, you will have to change it to the other way round.

To Conclude, the issue is a common one and a minor one. Searching for the solution will not leave you disappointed as there are not any complex solutions.
